Yarning places Community Guidelines

The Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet’s Yarning Places are safe places for people with an interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health to share information, knowledge and experience – even when they live in different states, territories and regions, come from different sectors (such as health, education and justice), and work for different organisations.

As a courtesy to others – and to protect yourself – please ensure you follow our community guidelines when using Yarning Places.

Be respectful

You are expected to treat all Yarning Place users with kindness and respect. Use humour and sarcasm sparingly, as this can be misinterpreted differently by others.

We will not accept:

  • name-calling;
  • ad hominem attacks;
  • hateful, inflammatory or harassing language;
  • personal attacks;
  • sexist, racist, misogynist, homophobic, and broad, offensive generalizations; or
  • comments or discussions written intentionally to provoke.

Always strive to add value to every interaction and discussion you participate in

We want to encourage you to have meaningful conversations that will help you in your jobs. Be sure the conversation you’re starting matches the general theme of the group you’re posting it in.

If you see something, say something

Our moderators are at the forefront of combatting spam, removing offensive language, mediating disputes and enforcing community guidelines and, so are you. If you see an issue, contact us.

Ensure you have permission to share

Ensure you cite the article you’re quoting and only share files that you have permission to.

Refrain from posting for commercial gain

Yarning Places isn’t a space to advertise your company, product or service for commercial gain. These posts will be removed from Yarning Places.
