Quality assurance

To ensure the quality of our products and resources, the HealthInfoNet engages in systematic processes of formal and procedural review, including a range of peer review processes.

  • The HealthInfoNet’s National Advisory Board provides cultural governance and guidance on the strategic development of HealthInfoNet material and resources.
  • Our network of over 100 Honorary Consults provide expert advice in a variety of ways to ensure the quality of resources produced by the HealthInfoNet.  These may include but not be limited to peer review of material submitted to the HealthInfoNet for publication, collaborative peer review of materials being developed for the site and single blind review of health topic areas. • Health topic reviews are double blind peer reviewed and published in our refereed journal, the Journal of the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet.
  • In addition to the internal quality control procedures, the Overview of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health status is subject to post-publication peer review.  It is made available on our website for a period prior to hard copy publication to enable feedback from users and other experts in Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander health.
  • Knowledge exchange products and resources such as animated infographics, short films and so on are all collaboratively peer reviewed as part of the co-design, co-production and co-construction process of knowledge exchange research.
  • Our research staff have been trained in research ethics, plain language writing and cultural ways adhere to documented procedures for all aspects of our day-to-day operations. These procedures ensure that all materials have been subjected to several quality control checks before being added to our site by our research and library staff.
