Tackling Indigenous Smoking (WACHS)

Overview

The Tackling Indigenous Smoking program, provided by the Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) in Wellington, New South Wales (NSW), aims to promote living a healthy lifestyle for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in order to decrease chronic disease in the community.

The WACHS Tackling Indigenous Smoking program offers a referral system to ensure health care needs are followed up with appropriate service providers. A smoking specific referral system is offered in partnership with Quitline.

School workshop sessions are also provided to promote healthy lifestyle practices within our schools and aim to educate children about the negative effects of tobacco smoke.
