Healing Waters, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Counselling and Wellbeing Service

Description

Healing Waters Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Counselling and Wellbeing Service is being established to address the trauma experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Townsville region of Queensland through a whole-of-life healing process.

The service aims to work towards breaking the cycle of trans-generational trauma, grief and loss that affects the daily lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families in the community.

Once established this service will include particular support to Stolen Generation survivors and their families through their healing journey.

Currently the service is consulting with the community, government and other agencies to ensure best practice and as yet is not open for business.

The service is supported by the Healing Foundation and works closely with Gallang Place in Townsville.
