The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) is the oldest research institute in Australia and undertakes research in health and disease.

Disease research areas include:

The organisation recently committed to increasing its work on diseases that disproportionately affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

WEHI is affiliated with The Royal Melbourne Hospital and offers postgraduate training at the Department of Medical Biology at The University of Melbourne.
