The END RHD Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) aims to identify a set of costed, step-wise interventions to reduce the incidence of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and the prevalence of rheumatic heart disease (RHD) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
The END RHD CRE's research agenda and activities will focus on developing recommendations into an 'endgame' report in 2020. Over the next five years, the organisation will collate existing research knowledge, identify gaps and grasp the effect of potential interventions.
The resources of the END RHD CRE will be focused on supporting research participation, convening stakeholders and developing a cohesive network. The vision of the organisation is to be a 'single point of entry' for students, researchers and collaborators working to understand and address RHD in Australia.
The END RHD CRE is funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council through a Centre of Research Excellence grant to the Telethon Kids Institute.
