North Australian Indigenous Land and Sea Management Alliance (NAILSMA)

 

Description

The North Australian Indigenous Land and Sea Management Alliance (NAILSMA) is an Indigenous led not-for-profit company operating across north Australia, working to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people manage their country sustainably for future generations.

The focus of the organisation is on facilitating large-scale and complex projects that combine science and research, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge and practical support to gain results that achieve cultural, environmental and economic benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

NAILSMA works on the following projects:

The vision of the organisation is that in 10 to 20 years time, the north of Australia will be a vibrant region where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditional knowledge, cultural values and responsibilities to the land and waters are embedded in all environmental, economic and resource management policies and practices.
