The University of Sydney - The breadwinners' programme

 

Overview

The Breadwinners' programme, run by The University of Sydney, provides an opportunity for mature-age Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from low socio-economic backgrounds to study at university.

The programme creates a partnership between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers, their employer, the Australian government and The University of Sydney, to support full-time employees to study their first undergraduate degree. The programme works through an employer/employee agreement. This collaboration supports Aboriginal people to gain qualifications that improve their career prospects and their ability to contribute to their family and community.
