Indigenous Governance Awards

 

Overview

The Indigenous Governance Awards (IGA) were created by Reconciliation Australia in partnership with BHP Billiton to identify, celebrate and promote effective Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander governance.

The national awards highlight success in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australia, such as strong leadership, good management, effective partnerships and brave, creative thinking. The IGA has been running since 2005 and is offered every two years.

The award has two categories:

In each category the IGA is looking for governance that demonstrates:

The award offers $60,000 in prize money, with winners in each category receiving $20,000 to assist their organisation, project or initiative. The highly commended organisations in each category will each be awarded $10,000.
