Fulbright Postgraduate Indigenous Scholarship

The Fulbright Indigenous Scholarship is for an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander scholar to undertake a research or study program in the United States (US). It is available in any field of academic study. For a Postgraduate, this may be accredited towards an Australian higher degree, it may provide the opportunity to enroll in a US higher degree.

The scholarship was originally established in cooperation with the now closed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission in 1993 and was established to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders' commitment to achieving excellence, with an international perspective and through collaboration in their studies or research.

The scholarship is now supported by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Benefits, rights and responsibilities, eligibility criteria and duration of the Fulbright Indigenous Scholarship at the Postgraduate level are as per the postgraduate general category.

Applicants applying for general and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander scholarships may be eligible to be considered for further additional scholarship opportunities.
