Target audience: Those people wishing to work in generic counselling and high level communication in a range of commonly used modalities, referral and working within a case management framework
Course summary: This qualification provides opportunities for further training to move into specialist counselling, alcohol and other drugs or mental health streams at higher Australian qualification framework (AQF) levels such as Advanced Diploma or degree.
This qualification is at the AQF Level 5 and whilst there are no academic prerequisites for this qualification, a high level of language, literacy and numeracy is required to ensure the student has the potential required to complete the large amount of assessment work expected throughout the course.
Students undertake 13 core and four elective units over a two year period. Course topics include:
