Overview

Target audience: Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander residents of South Australia wishing to become a health or community worker

Course summary: This course is clinically oriented with a focus on working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the area of primary health care. Delegates will gain a greater understanding of the necessary knowledge and skills required to work as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Worker. The skills that delegates attain will focus on decision making, problem solving, planning, organising work, ethical behaviour and interaction with individuals and groups.

The clinical aspect of this course will include functions such as clinical screening of clients, through basic health care assessments, and implementing basic health care.
