Overview

Target audience: The diploma qualification covers workers who have a basis of skills and knowledge in primary health care, which they may apply in program delivery, management, and policy or education functions.

Course summary: The diploma provides a sound knowledge base on chronic disease issues which affect Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in the primary health care setting. The course enables health workers to engage with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in an effective and culturally sensitive manner on this topic. The diplomas' units of competency target the competencies required by Aboriginal Health Workers and cover staff that can be described as team leaders and supervisors in their workplace.
