Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Awareness

 

Overview

Target audience: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Health Practitioners

Course summary: This course covers aspects of cultural awareness relating to working in an Aboriginal community or organisation. It will inform participants on communication skills and cross-cultural awareness to effectively work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. The course will also cover appropriate protocols when engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities to demonstrate an awareness of Aboriginal identity, history and spirituality.

Participants will gain a greater understanding of Australia's history from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective.
