National Close the Gap Day 2018

Overview

Since 2006, the Close the Gap campaign has achieved an enormous amount. This has only happened with community support. In 2017, more than 1,100 events took place during National Close the Gap Day across Australia. The events that were held aimed to show support, talk about, spread the word, and take action to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people still die 10-17 years younger than other Australians. Closing this health gap cannot be done overnight. A long-term commitment is needed with adequate funding, and investment in real partnerships.

Close the Gap is Australia's largest-ever public campaign to end Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health inequality by 2030. Whether big or small, you can register your Close the Gap Day activity with Oxfam Australia.
