Cultural Appreciation: Working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Clients and Families, Workshop #3

 

Overview

This workshop aims to identify the barriers that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and their families who present for treatment at alcohol and other drug (AOD) services. Participants will discuss how history impacts on current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and develop evidence-based practical strategies to assist in working more effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and other family members.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

The workshop is aimed at AOD workers, nurses, youth workers, social workers, students, allied health and welfare workers and others with an interest in working with and understanding Aboriginal people.

A light lunch will be provided.
