Medications used in the treatment of substance dependence: current therapies and future options

Overview

This training workshop is for clinicians working with alcohol and other drug users in Perth, Western Australia.

The workshop will provide information on how some pharmacotherapies work in the treatment of substance independence, and when they are prescribed. With the emergence of prescription overuse and dependence, treatment of drug dependence in the context of co-occuring chronic pain conditions will also be discussed. A number of new pharmacotherapies will also be highlighted.

Case histories will be presented and participants are welcome to bring their own cases for discussion. Only registered participants will be accepted on the day of the training event.
