Respiratory Workshop 2017

The aim of this workshop is to provide the opportunity for participants to develop a sound knowledge base, skills and understanding in relation to the prevention, early detection, and management of respiratory conditions in the acute and community settings. The course also aims to contribute to the capacity building and ongoing education of well informed, confident and competent health practitioners working in the context of both non‐Indigenous and Indigenous health in the Northern Territory (NT).

On completion of this training program the participants should be able to:
  • discuss the imperative of early detection and management of clients with respiratory conditions in order to achieve improved health outcomes
  • demonstrate an understanding of the best practice management of clients with respiratory disorders following the current standard treatment guidelines
  • identify associated challenges and barriers to improve the prevention, early detection and management of respiratory disorders through systems approach
  • discuss avenues to incorporate the concepts of self‐management, pulmonary rehabilitation and tobacco action into daily work practices to assist clients with respiratory conditions
  • complete pre-reading prior to commencement of workshop and open book assessment.

The workshop is for nurses, Aboriginal health practitioners and all other health professionals working in the NT. Please refer to the flyer in links for further details.
