50th Annual Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG) Conference

Overview

This conference will focus on the theme Ageing: the golden opportunity. It will provide a platform for delegates to discuss ways to best support the health and wellbeing of older people. The conference will include information on the ways that emerging research and evidence-based policy is benefiting the diverse and ageing population.

The conference program will include presentations and discussions led by researchers, policy makers and practitioners.

A pre-conference workshop, focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and remote living health issues, will also be held prior to the conference commencement. In 2015, the pre-conference workshop focussed on the theme Closing remote communities: effects on ageing. It examined the effects of the closure of over 150 Aboriginal remote communities in Western Australia and the social implications caused. The workshop identified and addressed some of the factors related to the health and wellbeing of the older population who are no longer able to live in their communities to which they have a spiritual connection to.

Please note, registration opens 9 June 2017.
