Sydney MSIC Safer Injecting Workshop

 

Overview

This workshop will cover the specifics of safe injecting and work with those who misuse prescription opioids. The sessions are as follows:

Participants will receive interactive and specialised training, incuding:

It is hoped that there will be opportunities for participants to ask questions in a safe environment. A new component of the workshop will be outline the administration of Narcan, a brand of the drug Naloxone, in a community setting.

Participants receive a personal take-home kit containing two doses of Narcan.

After the workshop, participants should be able to recognise and effectively intervene in an opioid overdose. Opioid overdoses are life-threatening occurrences.

There is a fee for these workshops, and they are not Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander specific.
