Quitskills Brief Intervention Training for Tackling Indigenous Smoking (Northern Territory)

 

Overview

This training is offered through Cancer Council South Australia (SA) and has been tailored to suit the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers and professionals, or non-Indigenous workers and professionals who work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients who would like to quit smoking, or are thinking about quitting.

The training is a three day workshop, which is nationally recognised. Participants have the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and confidence in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to make some changes to their smoking behaviours.

The topics covered will include:

Units of competency upon completion of this training are from TAFE SA and are as follows:

Nurses and other registered health professionals should inquire about Continuing Professional Development points (CPD).
