Laura Aboriginal Dance Festival

 

Overview

The Laura Aboriginal Dance Festival is a biennial event in Cape York Peninsula region of Queensland. The event highlights the many diverse communities, language, song, dance and stories of Aboriginal culture. The event runs for three days and has over 20 communities participating from across the region with up to 500 performers.

2017 will continue with the competition for the Festival shield. There will be two opportunities for dance groups to present. The first Dance Festivals were judged by Elders from the Cape, the committee intends to reinstall this method in 2017.
