Australian Winter School Workshops

Overview

The Australian Winter School (AWS) is a national alcohol and other drug (AOD) conference presented by Lives Lived Well, one of Queensland’s leading non-government AOD providers.

In 2016, AWS is shifting from a conference format, to a more highly-targeted AOD workshop series for 2016. This event aims to support health care professionals, including nurses, allied health, GPs, health workers in emergency departments and mental health care to develop the skills and knowledge needed in responding to alcohol and drug related issues.

The 2016 workshop series will be on integrating motivational interviewing (MI) and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). This will be a one-day intensive workshop focusing on building skills and understanding of MI and CBT. The facilitator is the renowned expert and author, Dr Sylvie Naar-King, Professor and Director of the Division of Behavioral Sciences in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences at Wayne State University.
