Diabetes

Diabetes mellitus (diabetes) is a chronic and complex condition that can have a significant impact on health and wellbeing. Diabetes occurs when a person is no longer able to produce enough insulin (a hormone made by the pancreas) to control blood glucose levels or when the body is no longer able to use insulin effectively or both [45543].

There are three main types of diabetes: type 1, type 2 (the most common form) and gestational diabetes [44185].
